Fire and Smoke Modeling
EFP uses mathematical modeling software combining computational fluid dynamics and building floor plans with numerous variables to simulate and measure the growth of fire, smoke hazards, and suppressions. These simulations are used to analyze fire growth, smoke development and movement, structural design, fuel loading, suppression systems, and egress times. EFP uses the CONTAM building airflow models to evaluate stair/elevator pressurization smoke control systems in high-rise buildings.
Our engineers then use this information to develop accurate evaluations and innovative solutions for building owners, designers, and facility managers that effectively minimize fire and life safety risks.
